Hooray for Slings!

Melissa got me a really cute sling as a shower gift & I couldn't wait for the baby to arrive so I could put it to good use! Melissa swears by it & still uses hers often with Emma Claire nearly 2 years later. So, once all of our visitors left & I really needed my arms back, I decided to get the sling out & watch the instructional DVD (but really--how hard could it be?). The DVD looked easy enough, so I folded the sling, put it on & got Ellen ready to go in. Well, within moments, Ellen was somehow stuck in the sling with arms & legs going in every direction--& was NOT happy about it!!!! Once I finally weaseled her out (without dropping her luckily!), I put the sling away until I had reinforcements. When JP got home, we tried again to no avail. I e-mailed Melissa immediately & told her I needed a Ph. D. in order to manage the sling--or at least 2 Masters degrees (that's a joke for Melissa, if you know her:)!

Anyway, I put it away--again--& figured I'd take it with me the next time I saw Melissa. Well, I tested out the Baby Bjorn this morning & after having success with that, I was brave enough to try the sling again. Guess what--success!!! She went right in without any of the problems from last time & was asleep in minutes! I only hope that the next time we try it goes smoothly as well :)

(Don't mind the beautiful "Mommy hair" & spit-up covered nightgown!)
