I recently decided it was about time to introduce our peanut to some ways of the Montessori method. We've already done a little bit but I didn't have anything "official" out for her. I recently had a couple of little tables made for her to use & to work on, too. So over fall break, we made some play dough and after that I made her a little tray with her play dough work on it. I also put out her sandpaper letters in a basket as well as a couple of other "works." I've been so pleased with how much she enjoys it and how it holds her attention. There definitely is something to the Montessori quote "the hand is the instrument of the mind."
