First Day of School

On Tuesday, Ellen started her first day of school at Bellevue Presbyterian Early Childhood Center! Last week, JP & I took her for a little "playdate" at the school to see her classroom and meet her teachers. I took the day off school so I could go since I will never be the one taking her or picking her up from school. I figured I should actually meet her teachers before I sent her off to school! When we got there she ran right in & was happy as a clam. She even plopped herself down in the lap of another dad and starting "chatting" with him! (In a side story, it turns out that dad is the brother-in-law of one of my good friends!) Anyway, after meeting her teachers and seeing her reaction, I had no worries sending her off to school. So, on Tuesday, JP got to take her for her first day. I begged him to humor me and take a few photos before they left for school, so here they are:

The one thing I was really worried about was her napping at school. She naps at home fine but never for very long. I was secretly hoping she'd be one of those kids who proved her parents wrong and that she'd nap for 2 hours at school--HA!!! So, you ask, how long did she nap at school... Yup, you read it right! NOT AT ALL!!! Which definitely made for an interesting baby at my faculty meeting later that afternoon :) But, I am happy to report that today at school, she did nap and JP said her teachers said she had a great day. So, hopefully she won't turn out to be that kid who won't nap and drives her teachers crazy (fingers crossed ;)
A special thanks to a wonderful daddy for humoring me with these photos!

Watermelon Baby

As with most toddlers, Ellen's eating habit change from time to time...but one thing remains the same--this kid LOVES watermelon!!!!!

Splash Pad

I don't know how we didn't hear about this earlier, but it turns out there is a great little splash pad at a local park just a few miles away from our house. I was just sure it would be a hit with Ellen since she loves the pool--and especially since she likes getting in and out of the pool, I figured this would be just the thing for her! Well, I guess the two don't go hand in hand because she was NOT a fan! She did get wet--with a little help from her mama--but if it was up to her, I think she would have preferred just running around the park. Maybe next year!!!!

Discovery Center

As the summer was coming to a close, Melissa & I talked about what we still wanted to do with the kids before we all headed back to school. We decided to pack them all up and head to Murfreesboro to check out the Discovery Center. What a great day! The drive wasn't too bad--although I wish it was closer so we could go more often!--and it was cheap (I didn't even have to pay for Ellen!). The kids loved it and it was a fabulous way to close our our summer. Here's some photos from the day...
