Our little sweet potato

Although the doctor recommends waiting until 6 months, we decided to go ahead and give rice cereal a try a couple of weeks ago. Here is a little video of Ellen & her first taste of cereal: (WARNING--this video is 5 minutes long--I couldn't edit it once I uploaded it and I was too lazy to redo it--of a baby eating cereal. Not terribly exciting!!! You may want to stop watching after the first minute!)



We've been continuing with the rice cereal almost every night since then. Sometimes she seems really excited but it's usually only for a bite or two. Usually she's not too terribly interested. For a change last night, I decided to go ahead and just give sweet potatoes a try. I think we have a hit! She ate it all up!!! Check out the photos below:

5 months old

I know I should probably edit these a bit, but we all know how indecisive I can be!!! And this is narrowed down!

Anyway, here's our 5 month old--we love you sweet baby!

Some highlights from this month:

• Rolling over lots--both front to back and back to front
• LOTS of "talking" (babbling, cooing, yelling :)
• No teeth yet, but definite signs of teething!
• Started some rice cereal--can't say it's been a huge success so far (I will put up a video soon of our first attempt.), but we'll keep trying!
• Starting to sit up a little on her own--not for long, but it's a start!
• She has definitely found her toes--she giggles everytime I take off her socks and she can finally suck on her piggies--so sweet :)
• LOTS of laughing--serious laughing! I think it's my favorite development to date!

Can't wait to see what the next month brings...
