Spring Break 2011

What a better way to spend spring break than with a trip from our favorite Nana?!?!?! And this time it was so much more fun now that Ellen can actually say "nana"--it's pretty cute I have to admit! Here are some photos of our morning at the zoo together:
This would be Ellen's sign for "I hear something." She does it a lot!
I think she hears something again...
We had such a great time spending our spring break with Nana. We miss you and can't wait to see you again soon!!!

The Nashville Public Library has the best puppet shows for children! The program is nationally acclaimed and puts on wonderful performances almost every Friday and Saturday at the downtown library. We try to go every chance we get!
This time we grabbed our best bud, Emma Claire, for the show...
which was "Alice In Wonderland!"
Although this show was mostly real people, as opposed to puppets, the show was still great and the girls had a great time. Afterwards they were hosting a "Mad Hatter Tea Party" which turned out to be maddeningly crowded, so we opted for our own little picnic in the library courtyard.
What a great way to start out a tradition of many "girls days out" in our future!

our little Houdini

One morning, I was upstairs putting away laundry in our bedroom while Ellen played quietly in her room. I could hear the sound of her piano, her rainstick & puzzles as I sorted & put away socks, underwear and more. Such is the Saturday morning of a mom! After a bit, I realized it was awfully quiet next door. I checked in and saw nothing...no Ellen. I checked the bathroom, then headed downstairs...no Ellen. While peeking around the kitchen, I caught a glimpse of something outside. Yup, you guessed it...Ellen! Now I'm sure your asking yourself how a sweet, precious 20-month-old managed to get our back door opened all by herself. See exhibit A:
Apparently while our lovely canine family member isn't a huge fan of the doggy door, our lovely daughter has no issues with using it as an escape route! So, this is how we spent a Saturday morning in February in Tennessee...
In pajamas...
with rainboots* & bubbles...& our best dog friend!
*I'd like to add that the rainboots were added after I found her outside in pajamas, shoeless "driving" her car around the patio!
